Sometimes, I just need to look at situations a little differently, particularly when I’m in a rut, frustrated or annoyed. Sometimes I just need to give myself a little pep-talk and ask myself a question to help get a different perspective! Reframing is a process where you can change the way you look at something, and by doing that change your experience of it. To be able to reframe you have to be able to tune into your thoughts and listen to the story you are telling yourself. Once you are able to catch and listen to the thoughts you are then able to assess them and reframe them.
One way to reframe thoughts, feelings and situations is to ask a question. I find this particular tool to be so highly effective and practical. This one tool can completely change my mood, and quite honestly change a break situation – to a make situation!
Here are some of my reframing questions for you to save and keep handy. These questions asked in pretty much ANY situation can have a massive difference:
What else is possible?
How much easier can this be?
How much fun can we have?
How does this get easier?
Next time you feel like sometimes is going wrong, or you find yourself in a situation that I making you unhappy, give one of these a go. You might find a whole realm of possibility opens up that you couldn’t quite see beforehand.
Let me know how this goes for you, or comment below with any you have to add to this list?
