Creating a new life

Starting over was the hardest things for me. I was scared of so many things. How would the children cope? How would I survive as a single mother? I felt so broken, I wondered would I ever be whole again?

I feel like during the years after leaving my abusive relationship I spent more times in tears on my knees questioning whether I could cope, than I did doing anything else. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I coped by reaching out to services like Shine. I saw counsellors – quite a few – before I found the support that worked for me!

I also read books on recovery, or spiritualism, on living free from trauma.

It has been a process, but six years on I now smile more than cry, in fact, the tears are few these days – something I thought might never happen!  I am mostly healed, but still working daily to be the best version of myself, with awareness and humility.

You can be free, whole, happy and healthy.
